Checklist for data checks
Develop effective relationships with individuals in each participating hospital
to enable the efficient collection of data. Computer programming should
support all the data processes with:
- Logic checks – use common sense eg. participant cannot be dead before
entry into the trial
- Range checks – consult the clinicians eg. Blood pressure ranges
- Consistency checks
- Coding checks – be aware of the need to categorise data, open text
fields etc.
- Do not rely completely on computer checks/check a sample or 100% by
hand initially
